Example 1. Used as the contact for inquiries from an unknown large number of persons

This shows an example of setting when a Group open to the outside is prepared as an inquiry contact point.
In this setting example, anybody can submit to the Group, and responses to inquiries will come from the Group's address. And the contents of the Group are set so that participation is permitted only to members.

Example of settings

  1. Select "Group" from the menu of the new system (Gmail).



  2. Click "My Group".



  3. Click "Manage" on the mailing list to be set.



  4. Click "Authority" from the menu on the left and then click "Basic Authority".



  5. Make the following settings, then click "Save".

    • View topics: All members of the group
    • Submission: open to all
    • Join the group: Only invited users


  6. Click "Authority" from the menu on the left and then click "Submission Authority".



  7. Make the following settings, then click "Save".

    • Submission as the Group: Group owner, Group manager*

      *If it is already set, this procedure is unnecessary. Advance to Procedure 8.



  8. Click "Authority" from the menu on the left and then click "Access Authority".



  9. Make the following settings, then click "Save".

    • View members: All members of the group
    • Display member email addresses: All members of the group
    • View topics: All members of the group


Answering messages

Answering messages is done from the Group screen.

  1. Click "Submit Answer" while the message in question is displayed.



  2. Select address of Group from submitter's pull-down. You can answer from the Group's address by changing the submitter.



  3. After changing the submitter, enter the return message and click "Submit" to complete the answer.
