About an Unauthorized Access to the ITC System Server

For users who utilize the ITC System UNIX environment and/or the personal webpage system,

We recently confirmed that one of the servers, being constructed for the personal webpage system, was illegally intruded and administrator privileges were obtained by the intruder, during the period of November 28 to 29.

Because the affected server was accessible to users' UNIX home directories, your files were at risk of being scanned, deleted or modified by the intruder. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

As we investigated, there is very little possibility that your files were modified (including file creation or deletion), however, please let us know if there are any issues you have noticed or have any questions.

We are awfully sorry for delay of this announcement, as our investigation of actual situation has taken time. Also, we are making every effort to prevent any similar occurence to the issue in the future.
