[ALERT] Information Leakage from Chrome and Other Browsers
An attempt to infect users with information-stealing malware through a fake update request masquerading as Chrome has been confirmed. If you follow the fake update and download and execute the file, you may be infected with malware and your information may be stolen.
If your shared IDs, passwords, etc. are stolen by malware, you may receive an email from Google titled "Critical Security Notice" even if you have not disclosed your identity. (In some cases, Chrome will issue a warning when you open Chrome.)
If you receive a notification from Google, please take the following actions. If you share a PC with your family at home, please check the Google account of your family members as they may have received the same notification.
- If you have received a "Critical Security Notice" email from Google, please follow the link in the email to confirm the ID and password that may have been leaked.
- If Chrome has issued a warning, please confirm the ID and password that may have been compromised according to the contents of the warning.
- If you may have received a notification, but have deleted it or want to check it individually, please go to https://passwords.google.com/ (If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in).
- In any case, please check the ! [There are X number of passwords that may have been compromised], please run a scan with the latest anti-malware software and contact KEIO CSIRT.
